OSP-WA.Nina - TR:4 Summit At Snoqualmie Powder Morning

AM session was the hit. Got first chair on the 360. No times for buddies as the mad slasher took control. Lapped first lines under 60 chair line, then Freefall. Snow was variable. Some places knee deeps, some places just a foot or so. Still very bumpy. I got it in my face.

place: Stampede Pass, WA
people: Peter, Swappy, Matt, Christian and Jonny

We headed up to Stampede Pass Saturday for some good weather riding, but to our surprise, Friday's sunny day created a 1" crust layer on top of the fresh snow. this made for some tricky board riding and really wasn't all that awesome to make turns in. so the day ended up in a real mellow sessions. We practiced building a jump, it came out real nice, but hitting it while navigating the crust layer was pretty tough. so, keep it mellow we did.. all in all it was fun like any other day in the hills. good times, good laughs, good bro's..

This day also marked Peter & Christians 1st day out on there new to them sleds and i'm pretty sure there 1st time EVER riding sleds. (welcome to the addiciton!) It was entertaining to watch them try to figure these machines out. there 900cc machines are beasts! and once they figure those things out there isn't many hills these things wont concur.. while Matt, Swappy and I built a jump and had a crusty board session these 2 were just braaaping all over this hill the whole time, learning the sleds and getting some bruises along the way.. i bet they were soar the next day :)

Conditions:
25 to 29 degrees
2+feet of fresh with a 1" crust layer is my guess (we're still trying to get a base over here) so lots of trees and stumps to watch out for still.
partly sunny skies

on with some pictures.. (CLICK THE PICTURES FOR FULL SIZE)
here we have a mixture of GoPro images and Cellphone pics.. Matt loves his IPhone :P

The Crew.. the timing of cellphone picturing didn't come out here as planned.. swappy (the jumper) isn't really taking a crap in his pants..

Waiting in the lot to get our party train going.. you can almost always find me taking pictures into my goggles :)

Action shot of the day winners.. Matt and Swappy.. Matt the photographer and Swappy the action sports hero with the infamous SWAPPY FLIP! it aint a swappy flip if he lands it... Iphone ART.

I was kooking it off the jump here..

testing out the GoPro 3pic burst mode, you never know what you're gonna get till u get home.. Matt, Indy3 off the keeekor we built

The crew geared up and ready to head out. from the Stampede Park.

Another BC day at the Stampede. Kings Bowl skunked me again. Damn you and your cock blocking trees. Soon my friend, the mad slasher will own you.
You can't stop me this year, La Nina is on my side.

Master trail breaker Oneshot paved the way to new heights and powered up the road past the washout that blocked on the previous mission.
A keekor was quickly built and the grabby grabby party went down.

Oneshot nails it first try

Dropping trees

Gold Passes

Total poser.

After the zone got owned we rolled back to stumpy town and gambled a bit. Lady luck was on our side.
Both Steve and I placed some bad bets but didn't loose our shorts. Playing it safe, we took some power line runs.

Powder braaaaaping...

A 3 way luv triangle on one sled back up for some more runs.

After some electric slashing it was time for a BC survival test, With one bullet each we went rat hunting,
I'm pretty sure we ended up starving. Great day, need a good 3-5ft and then it gets serious, I think. Time to bring more bullets.

Good Session Friends!

OSP - WA.Nina TR:2 Stampede Pass, WA 11.24.2010

A short trip report video from a speedy snowmobile/snowboard backcountry session at Stampede, Pass, Wa. Filmed Wednesday 11.24.2010. We only had a few hours in the morning as Sman had to get to the airport by 3pm. My sled froze up the starter solenoid (damn single digit temps!) and after an hour of trying to get her to start, we cut our losses. So we doubled up, and broke trail doubled up all the way to King bowl, took a few snowboard turns then mobbed it back. Pow was insanely deep. Hells yeah WA.NINA!

nice reportings by TomX -

Blog Star Date: November 21st, 2010

place: The Gold Creeks, WA
people: Jonny and Tom

Sunday Oneshot and I completed the mandatory 'and so it begins' session at Gold Creek. With telemetry saying base at 15" or so, and light snow expected, expectations were set to a minimum. I was cautiously optimistic but looking forward to a return to the 'regular life' of snow shredding.

We pulled into an empty GC sometime after 8, due to some extra 30 minutes of shuffling on my part. First run of the season is always brought with some sorta delay, this time, all mine, as I was struggling with setting up new gear when Oneshot rung the doorbell. That and I had my pants around my ankles. Either way we were first in the lot! There was about four inches on the road. Plenty to sled right?

Worthy of note, it was dumping like a motherfucker and didn't let up all day long..

After a slick ice dusted road ride up to the Beaver, Oneshot thought it was time for some single track to the Stabbin Cabin. Log - 1, Oneshot - 0. Popped his belt off the secondary. Thank god for his magic stick, after 30 minutes of cussing and frustration we were back in business.

Next plan of action, head to Swan, go up to the 'fort', investigate hiking to the top of Spine Tingler.

Cock blocked by Mother nature herself. Snow conditions much better with 2-3ft on the roads, but no no no says that biatch. Lots of downed trees. This one was blocking the gates to goodness.
Plan C: Head to Presidents!

Stopped at the top of Slashers Delight for a sled couple turns. Off to Presidents we went, only to be cock blocked by another downed tree. This time I take no photo. Frustrated we went to the tower for a chill..

Plan D: Take some turns from the tower down between the roads. That worked. Look there's my board--->

After a few obligatory snowboard turns were had, we took a last ditch effort around the Beaver to see what we could find. This time we hit over the hood pay dirt. Pow the whole way, 3ft+. Soo fun.

I managed to ride up a log under the snow which gets my first stuck of the season out of the way. Hooray!

Oneshot assumes the Saskatchewan in the waist deep goods. We dead ended into trees, and not feeling brave enough to stump jump through to the road some 40ft below, we turned tail and called it a day.

Back at the trailer, you see the evidence of the days good work by Mother Nature. She's spreading some love.

So with that, it's on. And so it has begin again.

Sled Shredding - the mission 1 that started it all for me..

This here is from back in early 2008 from one of our 1st days out sled shredding. What started out as another day of riding chairlifts on hardpack soon turned into powder goodness with a phone call from Tom and an invite to come ride some freshies with him and Josiah, so Matt and I jumped in the Jeep and headed across the HWY to meetup with the sledders whom were oh so awesome to offer us rides into the backcountry for some sled shredding goodness..

Matt, Tom, Jonny and Josiah had a killer session of tree run riding, powder slashing fun while it puked snow the whole time.

this was a fun and funny edit i thought to be entertaining both watching and making.. :) - oneshot

OSP - Totally Bored Part Three - Go Go Machines R Snowmobiles FYI

What started out as a tool to milk some backcountry pow lines with the skiboard has become the powder slayer of choice most days. Bow down to the machines, cause on the few precious pow days of the 2009/2010 season we threw multitudes of gas powered sled turns in the BC. Our boards came along for the ride, but many a day, the play-toy of winters past was nothing but an old companion benched at the new game. At least we're courteous enough to bring them to the party. Oh don't fret, cause there's a gratuitous snowboard shot in here somewhere for our devout snowboard friends, but this one is all about the MACHINES my friends. Not to mention my favorite kinda easter egg. Apparently it was cold that day.

So Check IT! Totally Bored Webisode Three - Go Go Machines R Snowmobiles FYI. Slick edit by Oneshot.

Alpentalics UNITE - I wont be there but hey!

I know this other guys who this week is all about "Blowing Out the SPOT"  i like the theme! lets blow this out! its not a secret and hasn't been for some 15 yrs atleast though.. but lets try.. i never claimed to be original.

trying to keep the stoke alive though. just think. we could be shredding and sledding in less than a month and i know alot of my Bro's and fellow shredders look fwd to riding Alpental WA. every year..

here's a few blurbs i stole off the nets about Alpental.. and myself included.

summit site: Alpental, a legend in its own right for over 40 years, is home to some of the most challenging, adrenaline charged and breathtaking terrain in North America. When you’re ready, Alpental is waiting for you!

wacky yelp commenter: After 20 inches of snow in 24 hours I don't think you could give a mountain anything less then 5 stars.

oneshot: Alpental is rad on a powder day with no one else around, weekdays if you're lucky.. on a weekend? forget it!! get there early if you want a top to bottom powder run.. if you do get there early enough you can manage to get at least one top to bottom powder run. else enjoy the rest of your day standing in the infamous asshole lift line that is chair 2 and enjoy tracked out non powder runs.

Alpental is STEEP and TECHNICAL and totally awesome if you can get lucky on a weekday with no one around.

So, here we have a real short video filmed and edited by Tom Xteam back in 2007.. blowing up some secret alpental stashes that well, aren't so secret anymore.
Starring Garret in most the clips. a local ripper to the Northwest. and an Alpentalic for sure :)

WSSA Snow Show Review 10/17/2010

Last Sunday, I hit the WSSA Snow Show lone wolf style. It was kinda sad this year. First time I've ever gone on Sunday, without any bros, and to top it off, I had no intention of really buying anything. A lot less vendors this year and even less used shit for sale. Weird. Maybe it all got sold Saturday. I did the whole thing in under two hours which is some kinda record for me. I've never spent less than 8 hours at the show.

Talked shop with a lot of people, spent some time with CFR Dave and talked about how his rack is cracking my tunnel and what not. Dropped my yearly donation to SAWS. Fully missed Rasmussen's Backcountry talk by showing up late. Bummer. I got a cool poster for my office though. Picked up Schooled Again DVD, some Summer Sucks gear as I wanted to support North Bend business, and some Water Wetter in an attempt to find a overheating solution for the Nytro this year. Walked out spending just over $50. Some kinda record for me.

Overall it wasn't a waste of my time as I really just wanted to sit on the new Polaris RMK-Pro, lift it up a few times and see how it felt, get the skinny from a rep. Rep generally knows more about it than the shop guy. I'm sold man, that is one mean bitch. Love the slim fit, feels just like a dirt bike. Pennies are getting stashed, but I'm not giving up my morning coffee slut yet. Maybe 2011/12 or the next. See how the Nytro treats me this winter.

PRO RMK in the back, Iron Horse in the front. That should be my garage! ->

Timbersled dudes were cool as always. Love the Timbersled mountain horse, that thing is sick. IF only it wasn't $4k the WR would get that treatment. Maybe I can pick one up used in a few years. Spent some time chatting up my I-90 shop guys and checked out the bolt on Yamaha Turbo. Nice! But spending another $3k on the Nytro just isn't in the books. For $2k more I'm sitting on a new RMK-Pro as far as I'm concerned.

Show's gone downhill every year since I first went really. Maybe that first year it was just all so new to me, I was bustling with snowmobile excitement! Could be I just know how to find better deals on the INTERNET's and I-90 always kicks me down so I'm not so desperate to find a deal anymore..guess I'm not so into the 'window sled shopping' thing. That and a sled show is kind of a lonely place without a couple bro's to share your enthusiasm with.

OSP - Totally Bored Part Two (Webisode 2)

Dropping it!

In this webisode we have clips from a few different sessions at Stevens Pass Washington. the stunt jump session went off with Ninja Stuntman Clemmy throwing down some radical stunts a couple yrs back. then on to some late season snow dumps that made for a few super fun days of late season powder riding, much of it not captured on video.. but thats how we roll.. Enjoy...

P. S. If you see some slight vid distortion, let it be known that that camera is one of the many that got retired :)

sheeeesh laaaweeeesh! man i just really hate that word! 'Webisode'

can someone suggest something way more betterer and unique for a video series? i'll fully start using something better once you give me something to use..

ugghhhh webisode..
so in the next webisode we're working on we have a small collection of Stevens Pass footage.. Did you know when stevens pass closes for the season in mid April each yr, they open it up to snowmobiles? well, they do! and its always super fun! sometimes slushy and sunny with fun jump sessions and sometimes we get those fun late season snow dumps..

here was a day we went up where it was just boiler plate icy and hardpack.. we did nothing but donuts all day for fear of breakin our selves on the ice.  vid clip shot by the A-Man.. good work!!!  i laugh everytime i see this

OSP - Totally Bored Part One (Webisode 1)

So, I seriously think the word 'Webisode' is totally lame. but i still like to use it because far as  doing a webisode its purely new to me.
so, here goes with my 1st WEBISODE.

After 2 brutal lack of powder day's seasons we finally gathered up whatever footage our friends and the crew has shot and have started to crank together some video's, all leading up to eventually a full length flick, but releasing in parts. (WEBISODES) that word again..

Plagued with several broken video cameras over these 2 season we have managed to shoot with whatever we could shoot video with. steady digital cameras, craptastic low end vid cameras that lose focus constantly and more. i think you get the point.  needless to say the vid quality really varies in this series, but the fun we have in the mountains never ends. Even when the snow wasn't of the best quality we all got together to spend numerous days in the mountains still enjoying what snow we had to play with.

I'm grateful for having a awesome group of friends and alot of times friends of friends and more to share the mountain time fun with. the fun time on the hills with your Bro's never ends and i always come home smiling after a day riding. no matter what the snow conditions are like.

So, let me ask you this. Would you rather be out playing in the snow with your Bro's regardless of dismal snow conditions? Or would you rather stay home, do nothing and be......   TOTALLY BORED?

OSP - Totally Bored Part One (Webisode 1) that word again
